Vernon Taylor Announces Meet and Greet

October 10, 2013

Culver City Parks and Recreation Commission Chairwoman Ms. Mary Ann Green will host a meet and greet reception for Culver City School Board candidate Vernon Taylor on Sunday.

The event will beat her home located at 5969 Wrightcrest Drive, in the Blair Hills neighborhood of Culver City from 2 pm to 4.

Esteemed congress member Karen Bass has also joined in endorsing Taylor. Everyone is encouraged to come out and find out why congress-member Karen Bass and Commissioner Mary Ann Green endorse Taylor.

All are encouraged to meet the candidate or to show and provide support to help elect Taylor to the school board. He is a candidate who has a sincere interest in the quality and sustainability of educational excellence for all our kids and all our schools.

A 15-year resident and community volunteer, Taylor cites his ambition of advocating for all children within Culver City Schools as a personal priority. He believes it is a privilege to serve and affirm his commitment to all stakeholders and youth of the Culver City Unified School District.

“As a concerned parent and longtime resident of Culver City, my priority is to focus all school board actions and decisions on how the needs and best interests of Culver City’s students can be ensured, improved and supported,’ he said.

“ I believe the focus has to be on continuing to build schools of excellence and equity while producing students that are well equipped for future success. The goals must be accomplished in consideration of the limited resources available and the efficient stewardship of the resources provided by the public.

“ I believe my professional experience and community leadership have prepared me to make the decisions necessary to keep our district efficient and effective in pursuit of the educational excellence of our schools.”

Taylor is a bank executive and over the years has served the city as a volunteer advisor and committee member on issues ranging from planning to redevelopment and finance. He is a past two-term School Site Council member (El Rincon and the Middle School) and volunteer youth mentor and coach with the Culver-Palms Family YMCA.

He also has served as a Key-Three Executive and District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America, Crescent Bay District. He has three sons (two are Eagle Scouts), all of whom have attended Culver City schools.
