After a courageous battle with cancer and lifelong multiple sclerosis Kathy S. Smith passed away at Cedars Sinai Hospital on September 26.

She was a resident of Culver City for more than 30 years.

Kathy was a loving wife and dedicated friend. After a career in broadcast advertising, Kathy became a passionate and effective advocate for people with disabilities, animal rights and other civil rights causes.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Bauer, her brother Steve Smith, her beloved nieces, and a large circle of dear friends spread throughout the world. Kathy will be remembered for her sparkling humor, her positive attitude in the face of any adversity, her deep and unfailing desire for justice, her generous spirit and her warm and enthusiastic hugs.

A memorial celebration of her life was held on Sunday, September 29 at Hillside Memorial in Culver City.
