What the gouda is going on with grilled cheese sandwiches?

Attendees of EarthFest LA 2013 can find out when they stop by “The Melt” food truck on Saturday, September 28 at West Los Angeles College. According to Bill Geist of CBS Sunday Morning, grilled cheese is all the rage across the country. In fact, Downtown Los Angeles was the host of the 11th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational earlier this year.

EarthFest LA is a free outdoor concert and environmental / healthy living expo produced by California Greenworks. Other exhibitors and activities include free workouts with First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” program at 11 am and Divine Blessings Yoga at 11:30. Celebrity Chef Shelly Woods will demonstrate how to make healthier, delicious meals in her “From Garden to Table” presentation at 12:30 pm. Throughout the day, booths will include the Northrop Robotics Team; Star Eco Station; the Audubon Society; OFA (Organizing for Action) for Climate Change; Heal the Bay; Mercy for Animals; and many more.

Expo booths open at 11 am. However, the first of two panel discussions begins at 10 am. “Obamacare” will be demystified by notable speakers including the president of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and a policy advisor leading a seminal study on the topic at the University of Southern California. At 11:30 “Architecture for Healthy Living & Social Change” will be discussed by innovative professionals training the next generation of architects.

From 2 pm to: 6 guests can picnic on the college’s large lawn with a view of Culver City and West Los Angeles and enjoy smooth jazz from double-Grammy winner Paul Brown. Also featured are hit band Ambrosia, Latin groove artist Freddie Ravel, and up-and-coming R&B singer/song-writer Chris Lightfoot.
