WLA College Increases Fall Class Offerings

This fall, West Los Angeles College will offer 60 more class sections than they offered last year, thanks to voters passing Proposition 30 last November, the improving State economy, as well as the legislature’s renewed attention to education. The spring semester will also have an increase in sections over last year and summer session will again be offered.

“We are excited to be able to open the doors wider to students this year,” explained WLAC President Nabil Abu-Ghazaleh. “As educators, we want to transform as many lives as possible through education. For the last few years, due to budget constraints and the national economic crisis, we simply could not provide the number of class seats to meet student demand,” he continued. “I am pleased that we will now be able to accommodate more students seeking a full-time schedule.”

The number of classes has been increased in all settings -- on campus, online, day, evening, weekend and six-week. “It is important that West provides programs and courses in a variety modes and times to meet the diverse needs of our student body,” said Robert Sprague, Vice President of Academic Affairs.

In addition to being able to accommodate more students, continuing students in good standing should find it easier to get the classes they need to graduate or transfer in a timely manner in the coming semesters which will include fall, spring and summer.

“It will be nice not to have to go to multiple campuses to get the classes I want,” said WLAC student Hector Bolaños. “The college really suits me, you know. Great teachers. Not too big. And you can’t beat the parking.”
