Bomb Snarls Westside Traffic

After a traffic stop Tuesday night in Marina del Rey by LAPD Pacific Division Officers police on Wednesday found numerous explosive devices at a suspect's apartment on the border of Culver City.

Area businesses and residents were evacuated and streets were closed along Overland Avenue between Venice and Washington Boulevards.

The bomb squad went through residences on the Los Angles side of Overland Avenue.

Multiple explosive devises were found including pipe bombs.

The bomb squad arrived at about 6:30 a.m.

The bombs were removed from the apartment and individually exploded on the south side of the apartment complex.

Evacuees from neighboring residences were directed to a Red Cross shelter set up at Culver City Veterans Auditorium at Overland Avenue and Culver Blvd.

Culver City Police Officers assisted in evacuating the east side of Culver Center including the popular Starbucks Coffee on the corner.

Police reported there appeared to be no link to terrorism. The suspect remains in custody.
