Suicide Reported in Fox Hills

January 17, 2013

The Culver City Fire Department and Police Department responded recently to a shooting on Green Valley Circle in the Fox Hills area of Culver City.

Initial reports indicate the victim committed suicide. It was the first reported suicide in Culver City this year. Last year there were four reported suicides.

In December a man committed suicide by jumping off the roof of the parking structure at the Kaiser Permanente facility on West Washington Blvd.

In March, the body of Valerie Nash was found in her home in the 3600 block of Keystone Avenue. The 47-year-old woman wrote a suicide note before putting a buzzing chainsaw to her neck, authorities said.

On July 5, Charles Edward Drake III of San Pedro died after setting himself on fire outside a self-help facility in the 6600 block of Green Valley Circle.

Later in July, a 57-year-old Westside man took his life outside the landmark Sony Pictures Plaza building in Downtown Culver City. He died from a single gunshot wound.
