Jack Stubbs, a resident of Culver City since 1951, died on December 22.

Born in Missouri on March 17, 1926 Stubbs served his country in the Counter Intelligence unit of the United States Army. He was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. Following his service he worked for Douglas Aircraft and Hughes Aircraft and knew Howard Hughes personally when Hughes ran the company. He retired from Boeing.

He traveled to all 50 states where he took many pictures and was and accomplished painter of the places he visited.

He met his future wife Mary while they were both high school students in Missouri and were married after he returned from the service. They were married for 64 years.

Mary said, “He has a brilliant mind and was very logical. He was dedicated to being a good and honest citizen with a willingness to help others. If he saw a problem or someone in need of help he quietly assisted them.”

He was dedicated to his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife and numerous nieces and nephews. A private celebration of his life will be held by his family.
