Exceptional Children’s Foundation Announces Merger

The Exceptional Children’s Foundation of Culver City announces its pending merger with the Jeffrey Foundation.

ECF is the only organization of its kind in California which provides a continuum of lifespan services for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities, supporting clients and their families through all stages of life. The Jeffrey Foundation, founded by Alyce Morris in 1972, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for special needs children and their families through the provision of a wide range of programming.

With similar missions to provide the highest quality services that empower those with special needs to reach their greatest potential, the merging of these two nonprofits is a most fitting and natural alignment. “ECF is excited to be welcoming Alyce and the entire Jeffrey Foundation into the ECF family; we know that working together will greatly benefit the community,” said Scott Bowling, President & CEO of Exceptional Children’s Foundation.

As a young mother unable to find day care for her son Jeffrey who had muscular dystrophy, 40 years ago Alyce Morris sought out other parents in similar circumstances and began on the path that lead to the creation of the Jeffrey Foundation.

Over the years a continuum of services from early intervention and education, child care, and after-school programming have been offered to families with children that have a range of illnesses and disabilities, including multiple sclerosis cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome and autism.

“On the heels of my retirement as executive director,” noted Ms. Morris, “I could not be more satisfied and excited knowing that the staff and families of the Jeffrey Foundation will be in exceptionally good hands with Scott and the entire ECF team.”

It is anticipated that the merger process will be completed in the next four to six months, during which time the Jeffrey Foundation will be managed by ECF, with Ms. Morris serving in a critically important consultant role helping to support the successful transition of “her baby” to ECF’s complete oversight and stewardship.
