Council Hears Budget Presentations

The City Council received presentations on June 4 and 5 from a number of city departments including the City Manager/Executive Director; Assistant City Manager/City Clerk; City Attorney; Chief Information Officer; Director of Human Resources; Chief Financial Officer; Transportation Director; Park, Recreation, and Community Services Director; Fire Department; and Police Department.

The Community Development Department and Public Works Department were scheduled to make their presentations at the City Council meeting on Monday June 11, after which the City Council was to consider any additional public comments and then take-up the adoption of the budget for Fiscal Year 2012/2013.

Because of the current estimated multi-million dollar deficit, these departments presented a budget with very few proposed increases in expenditures. Staff took notes on comments and questions by the Council and is prepared to adjust the budget should the City Council so direct.

The Council also approved of a number of dates for a series of community dialogues on city finances. Those dates are: Monday, June 18, 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 23, 10 a.m.; Monday, June 25, 7 p.m. (off-site); Monday, July 9, 7 p.m. (off-site); Monday July 16, 7 p.m.

All members of the public are invited to attend these important meetings. The locations for the off-site meetings are being arranged and will be announced once confirmed. Much more information about these meetings will be provided as the schedule and venues are confirmed.
