Longtime Culver Businessman Larson Dies

Vern Larsen, a former Culver City resident, service club member and business owner, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, March 27 at his home in San Juan Capistrano.

Vern, 83, leaves his wife Darlene, sons Glenn (Candy) and Wayne (Diane), as well as four beloved grandchildren Heather (Steve), Lisanne, Trevor, Nick; and three great grandchildren Kylie, Jolie, and Carson.

A celebration of his life, presided over by the Reverend James S. Maines, took place on March 31 at the Marina Del Rey Hotel, where over 250 family, friends, and neighbors gathered to share the joy they had experienced knowing Vern over the years.

The Larsens lived in Culver City from 1950 until 2004, where Vern owned and operated Culver Motor Clinic, was a member and past President of the Culver City Exchange Club, and a devoted USC fan. Both laughter and tears filled the room as former employees, Exchange Club members, neighbors, fellow golfers, card players, morning coffee drinkers, and family members shared personal remembrances of a great man who was truly loved by all.

Donations may be made in Vern’s memory to The Wounded Warriors Project at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
