Gary Carter, the Hall Of Fame catcher who died last week, was born in Culver City on April 8, 1954.
Carter was an 11-time all star who completed his playing career with the Dodgers.
In 1986 he helped the New York Mets defeat the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.
