Let’s do the “Time Warp” again...it was sharp-eyed dinner companion Debbie Rich

who spotted Barry Bostwick and companion dining on the patio at Waterloo & City last week. Seeing him was a great way to finish a wonderful meal – kind of like dessert but without any calories!

Next Tuesday the Fox Hills Republican Women, Federated will hold their monthly meeting at the Four Points Sheraton, 5590 Green Valley Circle. The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m., with luncheon at noon and the program at 1 p.m. President Jane Young invites all those with a travel bug to come hear past-president Doris MacDonald’s presentation detailing her cruise from Athens, Greece to Venice, Italy (back to politics next month!). Teens wanted! Hey – how about going international? The Culver City Sister City Committee is inviting students 13-17 to learn about cultural and artistic opportunities, art and written word national competitions, and the chance to earn community service hours plus hear about a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to Iksan City, South Korea this summer as part of a 10-person student exchange for 9th, 10th and 11th graders. Selected delegates will experience Korean lifestyle, language and culture while living with host families and touring cultural sites in and around sister city Iksan City, located in the southwestern region of the country. Interested students and their parents are invited to an informational meeting detailing Sister City youth/travel programs, applications and costs on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to-8 at the home of Donna Thayer, 10737 Oregon Ave., Culver City. Looking ahead to Friday, January 29 – the Grace Lutheran Church Performing Arts Ministry will help brighten a long winter’s eve with musicians Cody Gillette (piano/keyboard/organ) and Mike Krstic (violin) in concert. Folks are hoping to hear something from Cody’s new opera version of “The Count of Monte Cristo,” or a sneak an advance listen to“The Princess and the Goblins,” set to premier at Grace Church this summer. There is no charge, but a donation at the door to help support the Performing Arts Ministry would be appreciated. Lots of fun stuff going on at the Culver-Palms Family YMCA these days: Tomorrow night 1 is Parent’s Night Out! From 5 p.m. to 9 you can enjoy an evening out while the Y’s Child Watch staff takes care of the kids. They will entertain your children with fun winter arts and crafts and provide small snacks and water, but ask that you please provide a sack dinner. Register today at the Y’s Front Desk: Facility members, $20 for the first child, $15 for additional children. On Tuesday you can enjoy a free chair massage and spinal screening from 4 p.m. to 6., courtesy of Takahashi Chiropractic; or how about “Wellness Wednesday” from 6 p.m. to 7 when you can “Create a New You the Paint by Numbers Way” with Sonia Wolshin; or even Beach Yoga with Crystal Carter next Thursday, January 27, from 9:45a.m. to 11.
