Services begin at 6:25 a.m. for Early Bird Meditation followed by the 6:55 a.m.Early Bird Service; Second Service begins with 8:30 a.m.Meditation followed by the 9 a.m.Service; and the Third Service commences at 11with Meditation followed by the 11:30 a.m.Service. From our 10-year perspective, the message, music and energy are phenomenal. How about something different this Friday night? The Culver-Palms Family YMCA is presenting Sangha Yoga Night tomorrow from 6:30 p.m. to 8 at the branch, 4500 So. Sepulveda Blvd. Everyone is welcome to this, the branch’s second monthly Community Exercise Night. Free and open to the public, you can join Triyoga instructor Nikita, for 45 minutes of yoga and then join her and the class over appetizers, generously provided by Samosa House, to discuss how yoga practice benefits your daily life, physically, mentally and spiritually. Music to heighten Sangha spirit will be providedby Sara Bock and fellow musicians of the Temple Bhajan Band. Even better: The Culver City Exchange Club Shish Ka Bob-Fest has been changed to a Fall Picnic to be held at Blanco Park on Oct 18 from Noon-???? The Picnic will be Chicken and Carne Asada or Steaks with appropriate side dishes. This has been a long tradition for the club, dating back to the days of chefs (the late) Chuck Pratty and George Agzarian. On a sad note, member Gary Wolf sent word that his loving companion Shirlye Keith passed away in Palm Desert following a long illness. Services were held last Monday.

The next meeting of the Fox Hills Republican Women, Federated, set for Tuesday, October 27, will feature Kris Vosbourg, Executive Director of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. His remarks will include the current status of Proposition 13, and what the future holds for this piece of legislation. Everyone is welcome to attend the luncheon meeting and/or the program. The club’s business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m., the luncheon ($20) at noon; and the program at 1 p.m. The location is the 4Points by Sheraton, 5990 Green Valley Circle, Culver City. Local History buffs should mark their calendars for Wednesday, October 21 when the Culver City Historical Society will hold its General Membership Meeting, and elections are on the agenda. The Nominating Committee met last month and will report on its recommendations at Wednesday’s meeting, followed by the elections. We hope there’s a piano handy for speaker Stephen M. Fry, who will present a program titled “Not so Loony Tunes: A Century of Live Musical Entertainment in Culver City” – he’s terrific! The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Veterans Memorial Building, 4117 Overland Ave. A brief tour of the Historical Society’s ARC (Archives & Resource Center) will be offered following the meeting.
